The second Community Arts Workshop for the residency program is coming up on Saturday the 31st of May from 10am-1pm.
This workshop will have an environmental awareness element to it, as a lead up to World Environment Day which is on the 5th of June, 2014.

The preparation for the first Community Arts Workshop here at Willsmere Estate (that will also be celebrating World Community Arts Day for 17.02.14) as part of my Artist in Residence program, is coming along nicely.
With 200 pieces of artwork (all 10 x 10 cm) almost ready – some featured here on our new table from Backwards Timber….I’m really looking forward to the Willsmere Community collaborating with me on a large scale map of the estate.

The first Community Arts workshop for the Artist in Residence program here at Willsmere Estate will take place at the Community Room on Saturday the 15th of February from 1-4pm.
This workshop will coincide with World Community Arts Day – a global event which takes place each year in February.
I will be asking the community to collaborate with me, to produce an impression of a map of the estate.
I will have created the beginnings of works on paper before the workshop commences, and will offer it to those that take part. They can then select an area located on a map provided of the estate, or find a spot that is important to them, and begin adding to the artwork. This can be done over the workshop duration, or time can be spent over a period of days. How the work is approached is entirely up to the individual, and will further depict and contribute to a visual interpretation of the essence of community life, both personally and collectively.
All the works will then be arranged together as a large scale collage, forming a map.
This collaborative image will feature in the final exhibition of works for the residency program.
Materials will be provided on the day.

‘ WORKS ‘ the exhibition explores the creative and current style of Illustrators, Painters and Artists.
This will be happening on the 26th Of September
above The Union in Fitzroy.
It involves 20 Artists from Illustrative and Painting Backgrounds.
